Getting the Most from Tai Chi Practice

There are many ways to do Tai Chi. Whether it’s a type like Tai Chi Chuan with its many styles and forms, or Tai Chi Chih that allows movement in a tiny space.

I’ve discussed forms and styles of Tai Chi Chuan in another article, but given that you’ve chosen a specific type, what are beneficial methods of practice?

Of course, a particular method might depend somewhat on the style and form you choose, but there are universal points to use with any of them.

First, decide whether the upcoming training is for health or energy, defensive maneuvers or both. Then use the following guidelines for the type of exercise you’ll do.
